Trustees

Nigel Bellamy, Chair of the Board of Trustees

Following a varied early career taking in CERN and the Civil Service, Nigel spent 15 years as a full-time trade union official engaged on a range of national campaigns on areas such as welfare reforms and international solidarity. In 1993 he joined Sefton Council for Voluntary Service (Sefton CVS) where he worked for 32 years as Deputy Chief Executive, before retiring in 2024.

Bernadette Cox, Training and Development Lead

Bernadette is a qualified Training Specialist, SFEDI accredited Business Advisor, D32/34/ A1Assessor. She is a qualified (CITP) Assessor, Business Adviser Mentor, Coach and NLP Practitioner. She has a vast of experience spanning the corporate world, education and small local community and charity groups. In particular, she has worked on a number of high profile female empowerment programmes.

Sue Holden, Youth Justice Lead

Sue is an experienced Community and Youth Work professional having spent over 30 years working across local government and the public sector in many roles, including as a senior strategic policy and performance manager.

Dr Jeremy Swinson, Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead & ‘Educational Psychologist in Residence’

Dr Swinson is an Educational Psychologist. He began his career here in Sefton, but later worked in Liverpool and then in a series of SEND schools in the North West. He is an expert in behaviour in schools. He has written over twenty papers on behaviour, appeared on television and radio talking about behaviour and on several occasions has been asked to give advice to the Government on issues related to behaviour in schools.

Julie Wallis, Health & Wellbeing Lead & Designated Trustee Safeguarding Lead

Julie has a background in health, wellbeing  and fitness and has set up and runs a number of community initiatives and developed a range of programmes and products, offering a holistic approach to women’s fitness, creating wellbeing, especially during the pre and post-natal periods of life.

Emma Andrew, Buildings & Facilities Lead

Emma Andrew is a local architect with 20 years experience working in the commercial sector, for firms in Liverpool and Manchester Her work includes  social housing, education, healthcare schemes, and conservation.

Janine Lloyd, Chief Executive & Designated Safeguarding lead

Janine is responsible for running the Charity on behalf of the trustees and represents Parenting 2000 on a range of boards and steering groups. Janine joined the organisation in 2019 after a 24 year career in business & environmental consultancy where she focused on supporting charities and social enterprises to grow and become more sustainable. She is a trained Service Leader for Evidence-Based Psychological approaches for Children & Young People and she is also trained to Level 3 in youth work.

Christina McGarrigle, Finance & HR Officer

Chris is our longest serving member of staff, since joining us in 2004. She looks after the organisation’s financial book-keeping and HR systems, working closely with The Chief Executive on planning, preparing budgets and managing accounts. Chris is based in our Crosby Centre and leads on the day to day running of the centre.

Hayley, Senior Family Support Practitioner

Hayley runs our Family Support programs and leads the team. As a support worker, Hayley helps families tackle problems early on when they need it most . She acts as the family’s main point of contact, making sure everyone gets joined-up, temporary support. Her goal is to support the whole family holistically.

Kenzie, Family Support Practitioner

Kenzie works alongside Hayey and offering support to families to help them overcome some of the problems they may have. Kenzie is also a youth mentor and has experience/experise in working with families who may need support with an adolescent child.

Sarah, Respiratory Health Parent Champion

Sarah helps families improve their children’s breathing and general health. She does this by tackling problems that can make children unwell, like: Damp and mould in the home. Smoking or vaping & other issues that affect a family’s overall health and wellbeing. Sarah connects families to community support and services that are not medical, to help them with these challenges. Her main goal is to improve children’s respiratory health.

Jay, Chid Safety Equipment Fitter

Jay delivers and fits child safety equipment for families in their homes under the Sefton Child Injury Prevention Scheme.

Stephen, Peer Support Worker – Crosby Centre

Stephen is here to help adults referred by the Sefton Crisis Cafe who are dealing with mental health issues. He offers a safe space to talk and a listening ear. He connects people to community support and services that are not medical, to help them with challenges that affect their health and wellbeing.

Hannah, Peer Support Worker – Southport Centre

Hannah is here to help adults referred by the Sefton Crisis Cafe who are dealing with mental health issues. She offers a safe space to talk and a listening ear. She connects people to community support and services that are not medical, to help them with challenges that affect their health and wellbeing.

Leah, Youth Team Leader

Leah is in charge of managing and running our Alchemy Youth Club. She is a fully qualified Youth Worker, holding a Level 3 certification.

Claire, Therapeutic Lead

Claire leads our therapuetic staff team. She is a Creative Psychotherapist/ Counsellor, Emotional Wellbeing Specialist/Therapeutic Coach She has supported children, young people & families , UK & overseas for over 17yrs in charities & the private sector delivering specialist assessment, trauma informed therapeutic services for caregivers & supporting professionals & systems. Her special interests are : Creative, Emotion Focused and Embodied Therapies Child and Family Emotional Wellbeing, (in)Fertility/ Pregnancy/ Parenthood- Individuals & Couples, Loss, Grief, Trauma Informed Practice,Therapeutic Parenting & Relationships, Cared for Children, Parents and Carers.

Claudia, Clinical Operations Lead & Caldicott Guardian

Claudia leads on managing our therapeutic systems and care pathways in addition to holding her own caseload of clients. As a former teacher and a parent of five children, Claudia recognises the struggles that children and parents can often face at school and/or during adolescence. Her special interests are: Parent/child relationship, Neuro-divergence (ADHD, ASD) in children and adults, Post-natal depression, Looked-After Children, university students. Claudia is also a qualified clinical supervisor.

Leanne, Therapist

Leanne delivers workshops in schools as part of our membership of Sefton Achievement Emotional Services (SEAS). She is a neuro-affirming, person-centred creative therapist  with a PGCE in advanced counselling skills and an MSc in creative psychotherapy, which inform her therapeutic practice. In addition, she has experience delivering change management and transition workshops to children in schools. 

Southport Shelter Volunteers ‘Christmas Shelter’

Every Christmas our Alchemy Building hosts Christmas Shelter where volunteers provide meals for homeless and vulnerable adults in our community.
